We were recommended by Grant over at Buxton Seafood & because we spent $50 on seafood over there we got a free scoop at Chilly Hanks. I think they learned quickly it’s easy to spend 50 bucks on seafood and even easier to sell ice cream to tourists in July even without the coupon so we didn’t get another one when we went back to Buxton Seafood the next day but that’s okay because our experience at Chilly Hanks was amazing free scoop or not. My sister in law and I are both gluten free (she’s celiac and very sensitive!) so the “gluten free waffle cone” option seemed too good to be true and we had to try. Somewhere between Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a graham cracker, the cone was truly something special - even my not gluten free husband loved it - and we believe they are homemade! Even if you aren’t gluten free or dairy free (or have a peanut allergy - we noticed they were peanut free though they have other nuts as options for toppings and in their flavors!) you have to check out CH.

We tried Chilly Hank's for the first time during our trip to the OBX this year and it's worth the 20 min drive from Avon! We've always gone to places within walking distance to where we stay but I'd rather the drive to Chilly Hanks! The service was exceptional and all were extremely polite. Variety of menu items and Hershey's ice cream, which is a bonus! Definitely our new ice cream spot!

Amazing ice cream! The best ice cream that I have had all week. We will definitely be coming back. The ladies were super friendly. Don’t forget that they will be changing their name to The Scoop next year!

Very nice ice cream shoppe, Hank was very nice and made a great sundae. They have lots of seating outside. Everything is super clean. Our sundae seemed a little pricey ($9.00) but was really good.

Man…. the guy serving us was awesome. Explained the menu every throughly and then provided great service to the folks who came in after us while he made our order. Very very accommodating to all customers. The ice cream… was insane, best sundae I’ve ever had hands down! 1000/10!

My wife and I came here for ice cream tonight as the stellar reviews brought us here. Wow are we so glad we did. The place was super clean and the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. My wife had the banana split and I had the stars and stripes sundae!! We even met Hank who was running the register. I have so much respect for working owners and love supporting local businesses!! The patio was set up so nice and the perfect place to enjoy our ice cream!! Chilly Hanks will absolutely be a place we visit each time we vacation in Hatteras!! Best ice cream place on the island by far!!!

We were looking for good ice cream while staying in Buxton for the weekend. What we found was quite a unique, little ice cream place with more than just an ice cream cone. Chilly Hank's Ice Cream has several sundae options with excellent prices. I had the salty caramel truffles and cookies n' cream. I loved it! We enjoyed this place, and we are big fans of supporting local businesses. We plan on coming back. I highly encourage you to visit Chilly Hank's Ice Cream when you’re in the area, very much worth it!! This is a business that accepts both cash and card payments.

Really great place to get some ice cream and good vibes!! :) glad we stopped here on a warm night! We got all different kinds of sweet treats! The Stars and Stripes Sunday was pretty good! The milk shakes are also a great option.
